What if you could use your Bitcoin solo miner for something other than chasing an incredibly unlikely Bitcoin block? In this video, I'm mining QUAI using the same SHA-256 home Bitcoin miners many of us already have running. Instead of waiting for a massive solo Bitcoin payout, the idea is to accumulate QUAI now and potentially hold it for later. QUAI is currently worth around $0.01, while its previous all-time high was around $0.36. That doesn't mean it'll ever get back there. Quai could go up, down, or nowhere, but it makes for an interesting mining experiment. I'll show you how much QUAI I'm actually mining with my NerdOctaxe Hydro, compare the potential earnings to Bitcoin mining, and then walk through exactly how to configure a Bitaxe running AxeOS to mine QUAI through StratumX. This is a speculative mining experiment, not a prediction that QUAI will return to any previous price. Always do your own research before deciding what to mine, hold, or sell. I Stopped Solo Mining Bitcoin to Try This…
I gambled $1,200 on a used Bitmain Antminer S21 Pro capable of mining Bitcoin at 234 TH/s. At today's mining profitability, it's still making money — but barely. So why did I buy it? I'm betting that Bitcoin mining hardware is cheap enough right now to make the risk worth taking. In this video, I break down what I paid for the S21 Pro, its current Bitcoin mining profitability, electricity costs, price per terahash, efficiency, and the two very different scenarios that could determine whether this turns out to be a great investment… or a $1,200 mistake. We’ll also look at why ASIC prices tend to move with the Bitcoin market, what happens when Bitcoin price rises faster than network hashrate can respond, and the decision I could eventually face between continuing to mine or selling the ASIC for a profit. Is Now the Best Time to Buy a Bitcoin Miner?
The new generation of home Bitcoin miners is here, and it's moving fast — so I put the latest BM1373 ASIC chips head-to-head against the previous-gen BM1370 to answer one question: is the upgrade actually worth it? The result surprised even me. Two of the new-generation chips inside the Hammer Miner Thor P2 flat-out beat four of the older chips in the Hammerminer BC4, and by the end I pushed the P2 all the way to 10.8 TH/s from just two chips. In this video I run real head-to-head tests in Thor OS across normal mode, overclock mode, and full manual voltage/frequency tuning, with 24-hour results verified at the pool. You'll see the exact hashrate, power draw, and efficiency (joules per terahash) numbers, plus my honest take on whether owners of older Bitaxe and Nerdaxe BM1370 machines should upgrade.
